Pixel 8 Pro Aces The Drop Test And Easily Manages To Outshine Other Smartphones-May 2024
May 7, 2025 3:17 PM

It has been less than a week since the Pixel 8 Pro, along with its younger sibling, went official. The good news is that if you are looking for something that is a solid performer, has great cameras, software support, and durability, then this phone might be right up your alley.

The Pixel 8 Pro is undoubtedly one of the most durable smartphones on the market

The Pixel 8 Pro has gone through an extensive drop test, and honestly, I am surprised to see how it managed to handle itself much better compared to the Galaxy S23 Ultra and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

PBKReviews did the drop test of the Pixel 8 Pro, putting the phone through four drops onto a concrete floor. The first drop was from a waist height, otherwise known as a very common height for dropping the phone. The phone was dropped with the screen facing down, and upon hitting the concrete, there were a few scratches on the screen, along with scratches on the corner, but the phone did not display any issues.

The Pixel 8 Pro was then dropped on its screen from a head height, and the screen still managed to survive without suffering any major scratches or cracks. Some minor dents started appearing around the edge of the frame, but for the most part, the phone survived and survived without any major issues. It was still perfectly usable and functional.

Two drops later, the Pixel 8 Pro showed no damage on the back of the phone. The YouTuber then decided to drop the phone from the waist height, this time, with the back facing down. There was damage, as expected, but it was limited to the corner and the camera island. The back glass itself was without any damage. The final drop of the phone was on the sideways; one of the corners managed to get a dent, but the device remained functional.

After four painful-to-watch drops, the Pixel 8 Pro was put in a bag filled with sand and gravel. The YouTuber then rubbed some sand all over the phone, but that did not cause much damage. There are some obvious catches on the screen and the camera island, but other than that, the device came out unscathed. Needless to say, the phone managed to pass the test with flying colors, and if you are looking for a phone that you would want to use without a case, I would highly suggest that you pick this one up because, let's be honest, the results are surprising good.
