WhatsApp will no longer support BlackBerry OS and Windows Phone, as the company has confirmed plans to stop supporting these platforms by the year end. This essentially means that this is the last week (too many ultimatums for this week!!) you will be able to use all the features of WhatsApp on these platforms. While the Facebook-acquired messaging app will continue to function on some of these dying platforms, the company warns that some features can stop functioning at any time. WhatsApp says farewell to old weight

In its post, the company mentions the following list of platforms that will no longer receive any support since they lack"the kind of capabilities" WhatsApp needs to expand its app's features.The platforms that no longer receive any kind of support and where the app doesn't work at all, include:

Android versions older than 2.3.3Windows Phone 7iPhone 3GS/iOS 6Nokia Symbian S60

The platforms where the app will continue to work (until the specified dates) butyouwon't be able to create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts:

BlackBerry OS and BlackBerry 10 until December 31, 2017Windows Phone 8.0 and older until December 31, 2017Nokia S40 until December 31, 2018Android versions 2.3.7 and older until February 1, 2020

The company has recommended users to upgradeto Android 4.0+, iOS 7+, or Windows Phone 8.1.
