It seems that Samsung Display happens to be working on a bezel-free display. At the moment, we don't know much other than the fact that the work on such a screen has started, and currently, it is in the concept stage. However, if this thing does materialize into something fully functional, then that day is not far where we start seeing completely bezel-free smartphones.

Bezel-less phones could be possible thanks to Samsung, but do we really need them?

Jung Yong-wook, the managing director of Samsung Display, has announced the plan to develop a bezel-less concept device at the Display Business Forum 2023 event. And knowing Samsung, that day is not far when we start seeing a plethora of devices with such a display, and while the next generation of Galaxy S phones is not going to be getting this upgrade, it is nice to say that we are going to look into some really excellent devices in the future.

The executive talked about how Samsung display is working on an under-panel camera and a zero-bezel concept product, and the aim here is to create something that will allow users to have a seamless experience. You can look at the slide that was shared by the source.

Now, it is safe to say that Samsung is looking to use 3D lamination, edge brightness control, as well as a better under-panel camera. All of these combined will be used to bring the latest phones with bezel-less displays to the market. Of course, it is still something that we haven't seen in the market, and knowing how the progress in the smartphone industry happens, it will be some time before we start seeing this tech.

I really love the idea of a bezel-free smartphone, to be honest. But at the same time, it does terrify me because if you remove the bezels, the screen will fall from the edges, and there is a chance that the phones could become more fragile, and we will need better screen protectors.

Another thing to note here is that just because Samsung Display has decided to show off what they are currently working on does not mean that we will see this in a final product. There is always a possibility that the project is scraped entirely because we have seen this happen in the past, so take this news with a grain of salt.
