Samsung is last in the line of Android phone manufacturers to upgrade its latest flagship smartphones to the Android 7.0 Nougat. The company started a Galaxy Beta Program in November. With December almost coming to an end, Samsung has now released the fourth major update to Galaxy S7 and S7 edge devices enrolled in the beta program. Yep, still nothing for the public.
Fourth Galaxy S7 Nougat beta update rolling out
Over the last month, the Korean tech giant released several updates to offer Nougat features on the registered phones, along with fixing bugs and improving performance. The fourth update has started to show up on devices enrolled in the beta program. Today's Nougat beta build for theGalaxy S7andS7 edgeisZPLH, bringing a handful of bug improvements, enhanced features, and improvements to the device's performance.
The company has also said in the changelog that it has removed the Samsung Notes application which was introduced in an earlier beta update to Galaxy S7 duo. However, AndroidCentral confirms that the application is still available after the update to the latest beta.
Technically, this is a fifth beta build in total, since Samsung had released an early patch to fix a Facebook-related crash, but today's is the fourth major beta Nougat update for Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.
Another notable point to mention here is the lack of Samsung Experience. Remember, that new UX name that made to the headlines after Samsung proudly showed it off with a beta update? Apparently, Samsung is still shying away from using the UX name or version and has removed it altogether from the details. Could make a comeback, but if the history suggests anything that was all we saw of Samsung Experience.
Wondering if you could be a part of Samsung Galaxy Nougat Beta Program? Too late, as the registrations are closed. However, with the new update fixing nothing but a few minor issues, we do hope to see the public release of Android 7.0 Nougat for Galaxy S7 and S7 edge before the year ends - how about a Christmas release? All we can do is hope...
