Along with the refresh of Polaris, SAPPHIREbrought out their new and improved Nitro+ line to a great reception. One of the models in particular was the Nitro+ RX 580 Limited Edition that came with two different sets of fans, one with LEDs and one without. Enthusiasts immediately begged for these LED fans to be available for purchase since they used the same attachment design that allows for rapid and easy removal of the fans for cleaning and swapping. It only made sense from a fan's standpoint. In fact, we reviewed the Nitro+ RX 570 and completely agreed with the fans' sentiments that this would be awesome as an add on for those who wanted it. SAPPHIRE delivered with Nitro Gear.

Extra LED-Backlit Fans

New fans were top of the list with the then new Nitro Gear. Not only did SAPPHIREdeliver on the white LEDs, they also managed to pack in red and blue. Feeling a little patriotic with the announcement of Far Cry 5. All of the fans feature double ball bearings and are easily swapped out thanks to the SAPPHIRE Quick Connect System and are compatible with the following graphics cards

Shroud and Backplate Sets

I have to be honest, while I expected the fans to become available at some point I did not see this coming. Nitro Gear also brings additional backplates which are something that have been around, but I don't recall ever being able to buy entire shroud replacements in the past; I don't count colored clip-ons for cards. Colors available at first will be Azure Ice and Crimson Fire, hopefully more will come later but don't expect the limited edition gunmetal to ever become available.

Availability hasn't been specified past 'available soon' for the shrounds and 'shipping this summer' for the fans. In other news SAPPHIRE, says to stay tuned for more 'exciting news from SAPPHIRE coming from Computex 2017 and beyond'....could that be RX Vega related? Who knows, but we'll be watching.
