The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, in its entirety, is an excellent chip that delivers excellent performance and efficiency, and the company took it even further when the same chipset debuted in the Galaxy S23 series. Samsung and Qualcomm worked together and brought higher CPU and GPU clock speeds, with the AI part also improving, but we are now hearing that the exclusivity might end.
Samsung and Qualcomm part ways as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy is no longer exclusive and will come to other phones later this year
According to the Weibo leaker/tipster Digital Chat Station, Samsung's exclusivity of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy could come to an end, and other smartphone manufacturers are going to start using the higher-clocked version of the chipset that will be coming out later this year.
At the time of writing, we are not sure why this exclusivity has ended because the Galaxy S23 series launched only a couple of months ago, and to see Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy coming to other devices is rather strange. Another thing to know is that we are not sure what this new version will be called, but there is a chance that Qualcomm might end up calling it the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2.

Another reason for this exclusivity to come to an end could be the fact that Samsung has started working on the Exynos 2400 that will be found in some regions when the Galaxy S24 eventually comes out and the company feels that their exclusivity to Qualcomm is no longer needed. Again, we cannot say anything for sure, but if you haven't upgraded to a new phone, the overclocked Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 might be something you should be going for.
Another thing worth noting is that while the upgraded chipset is definitely the faster processor compared to the base variant, the difference in performance will not appear in real-life usage. There is no official word on why Qualcomm made this decision, but in the future, we will keep you posted as we get to hear more about why the company decided to go this route. Until then, stay tuned and take this rumor with a grain of salt.
