Some iPhone 15 Pro Units Appear To Be Defective With Uneven Coloring On The Sides And Alignment Issues With The Display And The Frame-February 2024

Today's the day when everyone who pre-ordered the device should be getting their hands on the latest iPhones, and while many people are excited to finally get to try out the new iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, it appears that the first batch does have some issues that might not sit well with those who are spending upwards of $1,000 for a device.

Foxconn worker knew that the first batch of iPhone 15 Pro would have some physical defects

According to Twitter user, the first batch of iPhone 15 Pro are showing some quality control issues. For starters, the titanium frame on the sides does not even have coloring on it, and it shows how the colors are anything but uniform. In another picture, we can see that the screen and the frame are not properly aligned. These issues are understandable to smaller manufacturers, but Apple simply cannot let this pass.

It appears that some units of the iPhone 15 Pro are defective. The coloring was not applied evenly, furthermore the screen seems not to be perfectly aligned with the edges pic.twitter.com/krzhz4gv4f

The same user also reports that someone working at Foxconn mentioned that there will be problems in the first batch of iPhone 15 Pro, and you can see that here. Apple is using titanium this time with the Pro models, and while it certainly is a great choice for material, it comes with its own issues.

Not only that, the titanium is PVD (physical vapor deposition) coated, and while there's nothing wrong with PVD, it actually is not as durable when it comes to scuffs, scratches, and minor bumps. That is why when we look at watches, we normally prefer that the watch has DLC (diamond-like coating) than PVD because DLC, despite having the tendency to wear off, is far more durable.

Thankfully, knowing Apple, I am sure that all the defective units will be replaced with fresh ones. However, if you are about to buy your iPhone 15 Pro or the Pro Max, I highly suggest waiting until this issue is fully resolved. But if you are a maverick and know how this rarely makes a difference, then you can continue using the phone as soon as you receive it.
