Steps to Install Android 7.0 Nougat Custom ROM for Nexus 7 (2013)-February 2024

We have already shared with you the steps to update your Nexus 7 (2012) to the latest Android Nougat. But, what about the Nexus 7 (2013)? If you own 2013 version of the tablet, today's guide will help you update Nexus 7 to Android 7.0 Nougat. Well, unofficially, that is. AICP's latest version is based on Android 7.0 Nougat and offers you all the CyanogenMod 14 features, along with stock Nougat experience.

Following are the prerequisites and steps to update Nexus 7 to Android 7.0 Nougat based AICP custom firmware.

Prerequisites to update Nexus 7 (2013) to Android 7.0 Nougat

Downloadand installUSB driversforNexus7(2013) in your computer.Enable USB debugging option by pressingMenu>Settings>Applications. Navigateand tap onDeveloper Optionsto ensure thatUSB Debuggingis enabled.YourNexus device should be rooted.Make sure that TWRPrecovery is installed.Ensure that yourNexuscarries more than 70% of charge.

Steps to update Nexus 7 to Android 7 AICP Custom ROM

Required files: Download AICP Nougat ROMandGApps package (developer suggests OpenGApps ARM 7.0 Micro).

Connect your Nexus 7 2013 to your PC using USB cable and copy the downloaded files to the SD card of yourdevice.Disconnect your tablet and power it off.Nowbootit into the Bootloader mode: press and holdVolume Up,Volume Downand thePowerbuttons simultaneously. Follow onscreen instructions and go torecovery. Once here, useVolumekeys to highlight andPowerto select.Data wipe operations: go towipe data/factory resetand confirm the operation. Alsowipe cache partitionand finally go forwipedalvikcachetoclean it up too.Now,selectinstalland thenchoosezipfrom sdcard. LocatetheAICPAndroid 7.0zipfileand confirm its installation.When theROM installationcompletes successfully, repeat the above step for installing the GApps package.Once done, go back to main recovery menu and selectreboot system now.
