Apple was rumored to bring a new button layout with the launch of the iPhone 15 Pro models. The single elongated Volume button would allow the company to adopt a solid-state solution underneath. Furthermore, the buttons would also encompass a Taptic Engine motor for haptic feedback. The change was expected to be implemented throughout the device, including the Action Button that would replace the Mute Switch. However, the feature was scrapped and rumored for next year's iPhone 16 Pro models. Suppliers have now confirmed the absence of the solid-state buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro.
Apple supplier confirms that solid-state buttons are no longer planned for the iPhone 15 Pro models
Supplier Cirrus Logic shared a letter with shareholders today highlighting that the forthcoming iPhone 15 Pro models will lack a rumored feature, hinting at the solid-state buttons. The letter states that among the new HMPS additions discussed in earlier letters to shareholders, the feature is no longer expected as planned. The supplier also coined that it is eliminating the revenue stream related to the feature from its "internal model." If you are not familiar, HPMS is the supplier's mixed-signal chips integrating haptic drivers for the additional Taptic Engines in the device.
Blayne Curtis and Barclays analyst mentioned today that Cirrus Logic's remarks on the removal of the HPMS related to the rumored solid-state buttons on the iPhone 15 Pro models. It was previously rumored that the iPhone 15 Pro models would house three Taptic Engines in total, and the supplier would be responsible to supply the company will provide the required components.

Now that the feature is no longer rumored for the forthcoming 'Pro' iPhones, we can presume that Apple will ship it with next year's iPhone 16 Pro models. Apart from this, the iPhone 15 Pro models are also rumored to ditch the Mute Switch in favor of an Apple Watch Ultra-like Action Button. The button was also rumored to house solid-state internals, but we think that Apple will temporarily use physical or mechanical internals. The Action Button could potentially have the functionality which will allow you to map a certain feature to it. It could become the ultimate shortcut button for the iPhone.
Other details about the iPhone 15 Pro's design include slimmer bezels and a larger camera plateau on the back. The Dynamic Island is expected to arrive on all four models this year, which will allow the company to boost sales. This is all there is to it, folks. What are your thoughts on the subject?
