Suppliers Hoarding Upcoming 15-Inch MacBook Air Ahead Of Official Unveiling At WWDC 2023-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 1:29 AM

Apple is expected to announce the new 15-Inch MacBook Air at its WWDC 2023 event. While the highlight of the event will be the forthcoming iOS 17 and other updates, the company will see fit to introduce a larger version of the existing MacBook Air model with the same configuration options. A new report suggests that suppliers are hoarding the upcoming 15-inch MacBook Air ahead of its official unveiling at the WWDC event in June. Scroll down to read more details on the subject.

Apple suppliers are stockpiling the unreleased 15-Inch MacBook Air Ahead of WWDC 2023

The demand for Apple's MacBooks remained low in the first half of the year, and analysts are speculating that the trend will continue. Apple could potentially be launching the larger MacBook Air to increase sales, but it remains to be seen how the market will respond. One of the reasons for the lower-than-expected demand for MacBooks is the ongoing global recession, and we could see the demand unchanged even after the launch of the 15-inch MacBook Air.

According to a report published by DigiTimes, Apple suppliers are hoarding or stockpiling the unreleased 15-inch MacBook Air. As mentioned earlier, the machine will be announced at Apple's WWDC event On June 5. The announcement is expected to happen on the first day as WWDC will stretch from June 5 through June 9.

The rumored 15-inch MacBook will feature the same design as the current 13.6-inch model, which was announced last year in June. It will be powered by the same M2 chip as the smaller variant and will be available in the exact same configuration. It was previously rumored that the 15-inch MacBook Air will launch with an M2 Pro chip. It makes sense for the company to incorporate the same chip as the smaller version since the entire purpose of the MacBook Air lineup is portability. If Apple plans to add an M2 Pro chip, the 15-inch MacBook Air will cannibalize the 14-inch MacBook Pro.

Apple 15-Inch macBook Air Shipments and Demand

As for the changes compared to the 13.6-inch model, the 15-inch MacBook will feature a bigger display and potentially a bigger battery due to access space. The rest of the aspects of the device will more or less be the same as per leaks and rumors. Industry sources believe that MacBook shipments could see an uptick in the second quarter of this year. However, it was recently revealed that Apple will delay the launch of M3-powered MacBooks and iPads to next year as TSMC struggles to keep up with Apple's demand.
