A few days back, a bug in iOS was discovered that can brick an iPhone in seconds. As a reminder or if you're not familiar with it, don't set your date and time to January 1st, 1970. Apple has also confirmed the problem and said that it will be eliminated in the upcoming update. Although many have claimed that there is no fix for the bricking bug, while Macnn's experiments suggest otherwise. In fact, there are two possible fixes for the date bricking bug.

Two Approaches To Fix iOS 9 Date Bricking Bug

The forthcoming update by Apple will fix the bug, for those of you who can't wait that long can give it a go. However, the approaches might hard reset your iPhone, resulting all of your personal data to be lost. We hope yourdevice was backed up before you went back in time.

The first approach involves putting your device in a DFU mode or Device Firmware Update mode. This is a state when you completely adhere your device under iTune'scontrol. Previously, many users stated that this approach did not work; putting your device in DFU mode has no impact on the device. However, it does work, but requires a little patience. Your iOS device might be incarnated if you wait for a specific period of time, more than the 'standard' DFU recovery. The time to recover the device, however, might depend on a few other factors. More importantly, it does the trick, according to the source.

If you're a little timid on the inside, we would not suggest you adopt this approach. Pull the battery out and replace it with another one. However, if you haven't done this before, we wouldn't suggest you to start now. Moreover, if your iOS device is under warranty or AppleCare, do not attempt to do this. If you fulfil the aforesaid conditions, you would require different tools, depending upon the model of your iPhone. This is just an approach that does the trick, we do not mean you try your luck in your home using conventional tools.
