A New Google Pixel Phone Passes Through FCC, Hinting Imminent Release
A New Google Pixel Phone Passes Through FCC, Hinting Imminent Release-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 1:26 AM

Google will unveil its Pixel 8 lineup later this year, and we will get our first official look at the Pixel Fold, along with the release of the Pixel tablet. One would be forgiven to assume that we have the lineup complete, but that is not the case because one Pixel phone is still missing, the Google Pixel 7a - Google's mid-range offering with great hardware but a lower price tag. Now, we have reason to believe that the phone is going to release pretty soon because of an FCC filing for a new phone from Google.

The mysterious Google Pixel phone on FCC could very well be the Pixel 7a and not the Pixel Fold

It would be safe to assume that it is the Pixel Fold but FCC always explicitly mentions when a foldable phone passes through, and it cannot be a tablet for the same reason. All signs point towards the Google Pixel 7a that should be releasing this year. Now, the reason why Pixel 7a makes the most sense is that there have been leaked renders in the past, and while Pixel Fold also saw the light of day, it makes little sense for Google to release a foldable without teasing it first.

Sadly, the leaked documentation provides very little about the upcoming Google Pixel phone aside from the fact that it will sport all the modern connective offerings, so that is a piece of good news. As far as the rest of the specs are concerned, the Pixel 6a didn't see much of a downgrade and still had a Tensor chipset under the hood, and we can expect Google to do the same with Pixel 7a. Whatever the case might be, it is not yet confirmed.

With that said, at the time of writing, there is no information about when Pixel 7a will be hitting the market. Google's record with releasing their 'a' devices has been shoddy at best, but given how we have not heard anything from Google in some, the release date for the Pixel 7a might be imminent.

Are you looking forward to Google's upcoming affordable Pixel 7a, or do you think Google should work on its foldable? Let us know what you think about the new device in the comments below.
