Huawei might continue to gain the lead against Apple when it comes to being the largest smartphone across the globe, the California giant did well in its home turf, which coincidentally is also one of the most lucrative markets in the worldfor mobile phones. Apple’s rising profits are not just because of its high average selling prices, it’s also because of strong sales in the U.S., Japan, and China.

Interestingly Enough, the iPhone 8 Was the Best-Selling Smartphone in the U.S., According to the Latest Report

According to the latest report from Kantar Worldpanel, good reception of the newer iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max and continued interest in older models have resulted in an increase of 5 percent in the market share of iOS in the U.S. However, a 39.7 percent market share is still less than that of Android, which continues to reign supreme, considering how many OEMs use Google’s mobile OS.

The iPhone 8 came out as the top selling model in the country this quarter, helping Apple achieve a market share of 9.4 percent. The underdog Galaxy S9 was the top-selling model in the big five European markets (EU5) during the July-September period.

Apple also remained the most preferred smartphone maker in Japan, despite intense competition from Huawei and Sharp, both of which display strong growth with their flagships Aquos R2 and Huawei’s P20 Lite leading the charge.Android continued to gain momentum in Italy, France, and Spain, dominating the EU5 sales with a market share of 82 percent, up 2.3 percent from a year ago. However, Android failed to make progress in the U.S., China, and Australia. The only countries where iOS’s share increased apart from the U.S. are Germany, China, and Australia.

Xiaomi and Huawei continued to make gains in Europe, with models such as the Redmi Note 5 and Huawei P20 Lite making it to the top fivecharts. In China, Xiaomi’sMi 8 and Apple’s iPhone X were the top-selling phones.
