Apple Is The 4th Most Attractive Tech Firm In The U.S. For Job Applicants Per Day, Netflix Tops The Charts With 84-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 8:27 AM

Apple is one of the most sought-after technology companies in the U.S. at this time, according to the latest data, and despite the fact that this particular industry has been extremely tumultuous because of waves of layoffs that have hammered livelihoods, the California-based firm continuously receives applications. The recent survey shows that the company is the fourth-largest in this regard, with over 50 daily applicants, though Netflix tops this particular list.

Surprisingly, Microsoft is ahead of Apple in receiving daily applications, despite the thousands it laid off in 2023

The data collected by Resume was through a series of job advertisements on LinkedIn that cover a wide range of industries, including tech, fashion, banking, restaurant, energy, and retail sectors. As reported by AppleInsider, those figures were calculated by the number of people who applied for that specific position and the time the advert was created. Any listing that was over 29 days old was discarded.

In this manner, Resume managed to calculate the average number of applicants per day. Though it should be stated that these calculations are in no way representative of the actual data, but it does provide a baseline as to which U.S. tech firm is the most popular through one platform. Based on these numbers, Microsoft receives more applications than Apple, which is strange to hear, considering that the software giant laid off thousands this year, while Apple CEO Tim Cook earlier stated that layoffs at the company would be treated as a last resort.

This reveals that Apple valued employees' livelihood to the extent that Cook also took a pay cut of 40 percent this year. So far, Resume notes that more than a thousand tech companies have laid off 164,411 people last year, and the situation does not appear to improve as global inflation has struck people incredibly hard, with massive companies being forced to trim the workforce after spending billions in research and other costs.

“The last few years have been shaky for jobs in the tech industry, with 1,054 firms in the sector reporting 164,411 layoffs in 2022. Still, this doesn’t put off people pursuing a career in tech. Take Microsoft, which laid off more than 10,000 people in 2023 but places third in our ranking of the most competitive companies overall, seeing 57.90 applicants per job per day. Likewise, Meta — which saw 10,600 employees laid off earlier this year — comes fifth, receiving 52.42 applicants per job per day.”

Netflix tops the rankings with 84.87 daily applications, with Apple receiving 53.74, with Microsoft and Amazon at 57.90 and 73.25, respectively. Meta, who also announced layoffs in the thousands this year, secured the fifth spot with a daily application counter of 52.42.
