Apple To Begin OLED Display Production In February, Launch Expected To Be Around WWDC 2024-February 2024

It was previously reported that Apple would announce its new iPad models throughout next year. We suspect the iPad Pro models with upgraded internals and OLED display will be available in the first half of next year. A new report suggests that Apple will mass-produce OLED displays for the iPad Pro in February. It was recently reported that Apple plans to discontinue the mini-LED iPad Pro next year.

Mass production of OLED displays for the iPad Pro to begin early next year as the company plans to discontinue the mini-LED iPad Pro next year

Apple will potentially discontinue the 12.9-inch iPad Pro with a mini-LED display next year, indicating that the OLED iPad Pro launch is imminent. According to a new report from South Korea's Chosun Ilbo, Apple OLED display production for the iPad Pro will begin in February, giving us a rough estimate of when we can expect the new iPad Pro models to launch.

Since mass production of Apple's OLED displays will begin in February, it is highly doubtful that the company will announce the new iPad Pro models in the springtime. Apple usually announces new devices at its Spring event, but it remains to be seen how Apple will announce four new iPad models together. The company may announce the iPad mini 7, iPad Air 7, and iPad 11 at its Spring event, while the OLED iPad Pro could be announced at WWDC 2023.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg suggests that Apple will announce the OLED iPad Pro models with an M3 chip and a slightly larger 13-inch display. Additionally, the OLED display will be available on both models of the 'Pro' iPads, ending Apple's discrimination. The Magic Keyboard could also undergo a design change with an aluminum build instead of plastic.

The OLED screen on the iPad Pro will pose a handful of benefits over LCD on the 11-inch and mini-LED on the iPad Pro. You can expect the colors to be more pronounced and saturated with deeper blacks and a higher contrast ratio. Furthermore, OLED displays can also contribute to better battery life due to the low power-hungry nature of the screens. The company will use hybrid OLED screens, which are expected to be thinner than the current models. This could allow the device to have an even slimmer profile.

Apple was initially expected to announce the upcoming iPad Pro models this year, but the devices underwent various delays. It remains to be seen when Apple will announce the new iPad Pro models. If lucky, the company could unveil the OLED iPad Pro early next year, potentially at a Spring event.
