The Apple Vision Pro relies on an external battery puck to receive power when it is not plugged into the wall, though its capacity is yet to be fully confirmed. However, a firmware released for the AR headset reveals that it will not be powered by one but three different battery models.
It is possible that the Apple Vision Pro is sold in three different versions that feature varying battery capacities
The firmware for the head-mounted wearable was released on Thursday night, according to AppleInsider, and though the device is said to feature a non-removable battery, the leak reveals that there might be three different capacities. The firmware version was shared by Twitter user Aaron, who states that one battery model of the Apple Vision Pro is labeled as A2781. However, there are two other models featuring the model number A2988 and A2697.
This can mean that the Apple Vision Pro might be sold with a battery puck existing in three different capacities, though the company has not publicly mentioned this, nor has it stated that the puck can be removed and swapped with another to get extra runtime. Fortunately, we covered an earlier leak, which allegedly showed a cable that can be attached to the Apple Vision Pro. Unfortunately, the cable does not feature a USB-C port, meaning that it likely uses a proprietary cable developed by the company.
The Apple Vision Pro battery has a model number of A2781.

Assuming that there are three battery models for the Apple Vision Pro, one of them features a measly 6,500mAh capacity, and though the company has not commented on this figure, it does state that on battery power, the AR headset will last for just two hours on external power. Apple is said to officially launch the device in early 2024, with the company reportedly transforming a few of its physical stores in the U.S. to allow potential buyers to try out these headsets.
It is at these locations that we may learn about the different battery capacities of the Apple Vision Pro, and it is possible that the company charges beyond the $3,499 price threshold so consumers get additional runtime.
