Apple’s AR Headset To See An Announcement During WWDC 2023, Despite An Earlier Report Talking About Its Launch Delay
Apple’s AR Headset To See An Announcement During WWDC 2023, Despite An Earlier Report Talking About Its Launch Delay-March 2024
Mar 29, 2026 4:41 PM

There have been conflicting reports regarding Apple’s AR headset launch, with an earlier update stating that the device had been delayed to Q3 2023. However, there is a chance the company will announce it at its WWDC 2023 keynote.

The WWDC 2023 announcement could include the AR headset, rumored to be called ‘Reality Pro,’ along with its dedicated operating system

Once again, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has confidence that Apple will unveil the AR headset during its software-focused keynote. Keep in mind that Gurman has predicted its arrival at the same WWDC 2023 event, so when it comes to predictions, the reporter has not shifted his stance from any angle. He also states that alongside the ‘Reality Pro,’ which is rumored to be the official name of the headset, its dedicated operating system called xrOS will also be previewed.

However, while nearly everyone is thrilled to see what Apple has been working on, the official release of the mixed-reality headset may take place much later than WWDC 2023, possibly in the third quarter of this year. We have reported on several occasions that the AR headset development has been a tumultuous one, and a multitude of complications is probably the reason why Apple has indefinitely abandoned the developmentof the AR glasses.

The team behind the AR headset’s development even recommended Apple CEO Tim Cook and COO Jeff Williams not to proceed with a launch as the product is not ready; unfortunately, their requests were not taken into consideration. One product that came to mind when Apple announced it earlier was AirPower. Sadly, the wireless charging pad never made it to the market, an outcome the technology giant has not reportedly planned for the AR headset.

It is likely that there are a ton of expectations from Apple concerning the AR headset launch. An ex-engineer even stated that there was immense pressure on the company to release the device but did not specify from where or how the firm was being forced to announce it. At its rumored high price of $3,000, we can safely assume that the head-mounted wearable will not be the ‘platinum’ product Apple was hoping to launch as consumers will not purchase it in droves, but as long as it gets to the finish line before its competitors, that is what matters.
