Genshin Impact is a notably resource-intensive title and has even caused the iPhone 15 Pro to display massive stutters in a basic combat area, signaling that the A17 Pro temperatures are likely going beyond the recommended threshold. However, with the latest iOS 17.0.3 update, Apple resolves most issues, particularly thermals, while increasing the framerate, so let us look at the updated statistics and see how well Apple carried out its software polishing.
Benchmark scores see little to no improvements after iOS 17.0.3 update, but overheating issues seemingly resolved on the A17 Pro
The following scores may not have been posted by Revegnus, but he does a responsible act on X by sharing the temperature and framerate improvements for both the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max after the iOS 17.0.3 update. The benchmarks also included the compute and metal tests from Geekbench 6, with the results showing little to absolutely no change, highlighting that the latest software update contributes negligibly in this area.
However, in gaming, where the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will be stressed for a longer period as opposed to running a benchmark, we see real improvements. Genshin Impact is a visually impressive title, but it is also one that brings smartphones to their knees. Fortunately, whatever software magic Apple added to its iOS 17.0.3 update has worked wonders with the game, as before the update, the temperatures could be touching nearly 50 degrees Celsius.
Apparently Apple has reduced the heat of the iPhone 15 with iOS17.0.3.
No performance drop in benchmarks
FPS in gameplay has increased while the temperature has decreased.

We should also mention that Genshin Impact was being run with MetalFX enabled, and in our earlier report, it was shown that toggling this upscaler increases temperaturesby a small margin as the A17 Pro now consumes more power. With the update installed, Genshin Impact was still forcing the A17 Pro to work for those framerates, but the maximum temperature reached during this time was 47.6 degrees Celsius.
It is interesting to note that the total power draw of Apple’s latest SoC was not mentioned in the post, but we should point out that the company said that it will not reduce the A17 Pro’s performance on the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max with the new update. It is possible that Apple worked with Genshin Impact developers to ensure that improvements are made, but we will browse around for more data to see what exactly has changed.
