Apple’s great idea for delivering quick security updates just failed its first-ever public rollout for some iPhone and iPad users.

Apple’s first-ever rapid security response update fails to install for some iPhone and iPad users, are you affected too?

Update: So, I let my iPhone and iPad sit for a couple of hours and tried the update again, and it installed just fine. You should give it a shot as well. The idea was a simple one - instantly deliver security updates to iPhone and iPad. It is supposed to be swift, easy to install, and just work, except that it didn’t for some iPhone and iPad users out there, this includes me as well.

In order to install the Rapid Security Response update, go to Settings > General > Software Update, just like how you would install a regular update. But, when you reach the part where it’s supposed to actually install the security update, it simply fails and says you’re not connected to the internet. I tried restarting my iPhone, and even gave the modem a reboot, but it didn’t work for me at all.

You get two choices at installation failure - Retry and Remind Me Later. No matter what you do, the update just won’t install if you were unlucky enough to receive the error message just once. Though this might look like a lost cause, I’m certain Apple will eventually fix this issue. It seems like a problem on Apple’s end and one that won’t hopefully require a software update like iOS 16.4.2 or iPadOS 16.4.2. If you’re affected too, let us know in the comments section below.
