After the release of BlackBerry Priv, which was met with an overall better response in comparison to its predecessors, the Canadian smartphone firm believes that its ‘go to’ operating system is obviously unable to match the features and popularity of what Google’s mobile platform has to offer. That being said, it looks like BlackBerry might sever its ties with BB10 and go full throttle with Android for the remainder of 2016.
More Smartphones From BlackBerry Will Be Releasing In 2016 And They Will Be Running Android
According to a source, BlackBerry might be abandoning its BB10 platform altogether in favor of Android, which is a good course of action, seeing as how the firm’s BB10 was almost dead in the ground, if slumped sales were any indication of the company’s performance over the course of 12 months. However, with Android, and with the combination of the company’s famous security that it used with the BB10 platform, we are confident that BlackBerry will be able to turn around its misfortune in the coming future.
Coming to the upcoming smartphones from BlackBerry, we did report that the handset could come sporting an Exynos 7420 SoC from Samsung, which is made on the 14nm FinFET LPE technology, but we are going to have to wait for further updates to come later in the year in order to confirm this. In addition, we also reported that the next smartphone from the company has going to be much more affordable in comparison to Priv, which we believe is a great approach, because it will attract a larger market; particularly those who want to safeguard their sensitive information inside an operating system that is rife with vulnerabilities.
In an era where a terrible pricing strategy will indeed come to haunt a company later on, the smartphone industry is currently flooded with Chinese OEMs, who are all trying to nab a piece of the pie through aggressive pricing. In such a situation, BlackBerry should really be careful about what its next pricing strategy is going to be for its upcoming device, because consumers will be more enticed towards a smartphone that offers them a better price/performance ratio than anything else.
We will continue to update you on this front but what kind of specifications are you expecting from the upcoming BlackBerry handset? Let us know your thoughts.
