Google Pixel phones are tipped to get successors soon. We have heard more and more rumors about Pixel 2 devices in the past few months. As per another report on the subject, the upcoming phones are rumoured to have gotten codenames. These two devices will be taking up on the Pixel and Pixel XL legacy with ‘walleye‘ and ‘muskie‘ codenames respectively.

The codename ‘walleye‘ rings a bell as it has been spotted in Google’s AOSP code review tool. On the contrary, ‘muskie‘ has not been spotted in any code or other Google tool so far, which could probably mean that we might never see it and will refer the Pixel 2 as ‘walleye‘. Reminds us of last year when the first Pixel phones were in the making and referred to with the codename - Marlin (for Pixel XL).

For now, not much can be said about the two upcoming Pixel phones. We only have scant details about the phones except for a recent report that tipped Pixel phones are being tested with new chipset - “Snapdragon 83X chips, others with Intel chips.” Also, various reports suggested that this time around, Google might finally follow Apple's route towards 3.5mm audio jack riddance. Not only Google, various other manufacturers like HTC and Motorola are also expected to ditch it in their upcoming devices.

Besides, Google is also expected to make substantial changes in the camera and audio department. We hope that this time around Pixel phones does not come under fire for issues in camera and audio setup. To recap, last year's Pixel phones have often featured on our news timeline for an array of issues relating to hardware and software both.

Now that the alleged codenames for the Pixel 2 phones have also been revealed, it would be interesting to see what else springs up on the internet regarding the specs or other features on them. For now, we only have this much of information, but we are hopeful to read a lot more about the upcoming Pixel 2 phones. There is no word regarding the timeline when we can see Google finally unveiling them for the world.
