Demand For Standard iPhone 15 Models Could Finally See An Uplift Thanks To This Major Camera Improvement
Demand For Standard iPhone 15 Models Could Finally See An Uplift Thanks To This Major Camera Improvement-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:08 AM

The demand for the standard iPhone 14 models has been a little slow-going compared to the iPhone 14 Pro models. Apple made little to no changes to the iPhone 14 models this year. However, the company did move away from the 'mini' iPhone in favor of the iPhone 14 Plus. Other than the bigger size and form factor, the iPhone 14 is basically an iPhone 13 on the outside. The iPhone 14 Pro models, on the other hand, came with an upgraded 48MP camera sensor. Now, a new rumor claims that Apple will bring the iPhone 14 Pro's 48MP camera sensor to the iPhone standard iPhone 15 lineup.

Rumor suggests all iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will come with an upgraded 48MP camera, boosting the demand for the standard models

It was previously detailed in a report that Sony is not able to manage the production capacity and has asked TSMC's assistance in handling color filter films for the camera units. The rumor was shared by ITHome, suggesting that Sony is having a hard time this year due to Apple's decision to bring the 48MP to the standard models. Currently, only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max feature the upgraded 48MP camera.

Apple is going for a "full upgrade" for the standard iPhone 15's camera system. This means that not only the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max but the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models will come with an upgraded camera setup as well. This will be a major camera improvement and one of the major reasons why users would opt for the non-Pro version. Sony is also Apple's sole display supplier of the Vision Pro headset, with a production capacity of less than a million units.

iPhone 15 Plus Upgraded 48MP Camera to boost demand

Since the iPhone 14 models did not bring any major changes to the table in terms of design and functionality, the demand for the device remained low. Users preferred to buy the iPhone 13 that Apple sells for a cheaper price. To be fair, it would be the logical decision since the iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 are practically the same phones on the outside. On the inside, both devices feature the A15 Bionic chipset in contrast to the A16 Bionic chip on the iPhone 14 Pro models.

With the iPhone 15, Apple will offer the upgraded 48MP camera setup alongside a faster chipset. All in all, these improvements could allow the demand for the standard models to increase. Externally, the iPhone 15 models will come with a camera layout similar to the iPhone 12 series. Apple's iPhone 15 lineup will be announced sometime in September with a boatload of new additions. Furthermore, the company will also release its iOS 17 and other software updates soon after the announcement of its flagship devices.
