Dimensity 9300 Is 11.7 Percent Faster Than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 In 3DMark Wild Life Extreme At The Same Power Usage; Overwhelms A17 Pro GPU-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:00 AM

The Dimensity 9300shares a unique CPU cluster compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Apple’s A17 Pro, and it appears that MediaTek’s gamble in not using any efficiency cores for its flagship SoC has paid off as its latest chip outperforms the top two players in the latest 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test. However, as one would expect, there is a noticeable power consumption spike as a result of using just Cortex-X4 and Cortex-A720 for the Dimensity 9300 this year.

Dimensity 9300 operates at a 19.8 percent higher power consumption than the A17 Pro but obliterates Apple’s flagship iPhone GPU in 3DMark Wild Life Extreme

The most impressive performance and power efficiency comparison in the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme test performed by Geekerwan is when the Dimensity 9300 outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 while using the same amount of power. Using power measurement tools, the YouTuber found that the Dimensity 9300 consumes 12.7W, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 consumes 12.6W in the same test, but it is MediaTek’s flagship chipset that obtains an 11.7 percent lead in the overall score.

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s Adreno 750 is running at its maximum clock speed, which is 903MHz. Compared to Apple’s first 3nm chip, the A17 Pro, the Dimensity 9300 loses on the efficiency front, as it consumes 19.8 percent more power than the SoC that exclusively powers the iPhone 15 Pro’s and iPhone 15 Pro Max’s innards. The A17 Pro consumes 10.6W but only obtains a score of 4,389, making it 23.75 percent slower than the Dimensity 9300.

Dimensity 9300 3DMark Wild Life Extreme results

The test itself is specifically designed to push smartphone and tablet chipsets to their absolute limits, measuring sustained performance over a period of time, with the benchmarking tool also decent enough to provide information related to peak power draw. To determine which chipset delivered the highest performance-per-watt ratio, we divide the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme results by the power usage. The winner is undoubtedly the Dimensity 9300, securing a score of 453.54. The A17 Pro occupied second place with a score of 414.24, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 was dead last at 409.52.

The Dimensity 9300 may have impressed us with this result, but a single benchmark does not provide the entire picture of a smartphone chip’s performance and efficiency metrics. As always, we will have more scores for you to compare, and if you want to check out the entire suite of benchmarks run by Geekerwan, you can check out the video above.
