Dimensity 9300 To Beat Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 In CPU Performance But Lose Out On Efficiency, Hints Tipster
Dimensity 9300 To Beat Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 In CPU Performance But Lose Out On Efficiency, Hints Tipster-December 2024
Dec 11, 2025 8:47 PM

MediaTek is rumored to announce its Dimensity 9300 before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3since it does matter to some extent as to which company makes the unveiling of its first advanced 4nm SoC. Regardless of the launch timeline, one tipster states that while the Taiwanese chipmaker’s flagship silicon will be faster in CPU performance, it will struggle in other areas.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s improved power efficiency could be the result of Qualcomm just utilizing one Cortex-X4 core compared to the Dimensity 9300

A small edge in CPU performance can be detrimental to the smartphone’s battery, and that is one difference that Ice Universe pointed out through his Weibo account. According to an earlier rumor, the Dimensity 9300 was stated to feature an unrivaled CPU configuration that included four high-performance Cortex-X4 cores. Though Qualcomm has been rumored to be testing its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in two versions, the San Diego firm will likely stick with the ‘1 + 5 + 2’ CPU cluster, where it relies on a single Cortex-X4.

While adopting this configuration can mean that the Dimensity 9300 will gain the upper hand against its eventual rival in multi-core CPU performance, MediaTek’s top-end SoC will struggle in power efficiency, according to the tipster. It is likely that the addition of those four Cortex-X4 cores will adversely affect battery life despite both chipsets reportedly being mass-produced on TSMC’s N4P process. One thing to note is the difference in performance was not provided, so we will have to wait on that.

Dimensity 9300 vs Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Tipster Ice Universe provides his verdict on which Android flagship SoC will be better in various categories

Ice Universe also mentions that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s NPU will deliver 60 teraflops of performance but does not divulge how the Dimensity 9300 would fare. He also states that the Image Signal Processor of Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship release will see an improvement. However, it is not stated if the ISP is being compared against the Dimensity 9300 or its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.

Comparing an earlier report, we can estimate that the Dimensity 9300 will have more than a 20 percent multi-core performance lead against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, but single-core performance might remain consistent with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. As you might have guessed, this kind of information is slightly ambiguous, and a ton of information has yet to be revealed concerning the two smartphone chipsets. Fortunately, since they will presumably be getting announced in October, we will know their specifications and differences much sooner.
