Dynamic Island Is Coming To Android And We Can’t Stop It-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 1:20 AM

I admit that Dynamic Island is one of the only reasons I would get an iPhone 14 Pro over an Android. That thing is really cool, and I wish Samsung had done something similar. Still, while Samsung has been busy or not so busy in refining their phones, other Android manufacturers are having a field day with the implementation, and this has made me realize how, while not officially, a Dynamic Island rip-off is coming to Android, and we cannot stop it.

Realme C55 is the first actual proof that Apple's Dynamic Island is an influential success

If you have not caught up, I am talking about the Realme C55, the world's second official Android phone with the Dynamic Island cutout. The first one being an offering from Xiaomi. And as you would expect, it works exactly like you would see it on an iPhone 14 Pro. Except, Realme is calling it Mini Capsule. And this so-called capsule will be used for displaying information such as charging, notifications, and anything else you would want to see, and hopefully, it can also be customized.

Now, this Dynamic Island sporting phone is not available to purchase globally. The Realme C55 is currently available only in Indonesia. However, Francis Wong, CEO of Realme Europe, has confirmed that the phone will launch in Europe, too. We cannot say the same about other regions.

So, what else has the Realme C55 copied aside from Dynamic Island? Well, nothing else, to be honest. If you haven't guessed already, it is a mid-range device with a 6.72-inch 90Hz screen. A MediaTek Helio G88 processor powers the phone. You get up to 8 gigs of RAM and 256 gigs of expandable storage. There is a capacitive fingerprint scanner on the side, and under the hood, you will find a 5,000 mAh battery with a 33W charger inside the box.

On the back, you see a 64-megapixel primary camera and an 8-megapixel depth sensor, and on the front, you are getting an 8-megapixel shooter. Aside from the Dynamic Island, the Realme C55 does not really copy any of the aspects of the iPhone 14 Pro. However, I am interested in just how this Mini Capsule works and, most importantly, how smooth it is.

I believe that the Realme C55 is the first of many Android smartphones to have some sort of Dynamic Island copy. I cannot be sure if other big Android manufacturers will follow suit. Let us know your thoughts about the Mini Capsule in the comments below.
