Samsung is rumored to take the specifications of the Galaxy S24 lineup seriously, and in addition to using an ‘upgraded’ version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, all three models are said to feature increased RAM configurations compared to the Galaxy S23 series. Sadly, the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be offered with the most RAM, so you will have to spend that extra money for this variant.

Only the Galaxy S24 Ultra will be offered in the 16GB RAM configuration

The last time Samsung gave customers a 16GB RAM option, it was with the Galaxy S21 Ultra, but likely due to cost-related reasons, the Korean giant scaled that option down to 12GB for the Galaxy S23 Ultra. However, limiting the regular Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus was not going to win the company any fans, which is why according to Revegnus, there will be a massive specifications change arriving next year.

The tipster claims that the information he has published in his tweet is ‘solid,’ highlighting his confidence that these are the configurations Samsung will sell to customers during the official launch. Starting with the non-Ultra versions, the two are said to be offered with 12GB RAM. That is a significant upgrade considering that the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus were only limited to 8GB of memory, which should be considered criminal in 2023.

While we will be pleased to see Samsung offer higher memory configurations, the tipster does not mention if those 12GB RAM versions will be sold as standard or if customers will have to pay an extra amount to get more memory. Our gut tells us that Samsung will attempt to profit off of these choices, likely incorporating 8GB RAM for the base models. Next comes the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and just like with previous models, Samsung will be giving preferential treatment to this flagship, offering up to 16GB RAM.

Again, it is unclear if Samsung will offer the Galaxy S24 Ultra with 8GB RAM as standard or bump it up to 12GB in 2024. We believe the company will offer three tiers; 8GB, 12GB, and 16GB. Suppose 12GB RAM models are offered as standard. In that case, they can adversely eat into the sales of the 16GB RAM variants, as having 12GB of memory will be plentiful for the majority of potential buyers, negating the need to purchase the top-tier version.

Some might argue that using more memory chips on the Galaxy S24’s logic board will consume more power, and while that is true, it also depends on which memory is used. Samsung recently announced its LPDDR5X RAM chips, delivering increased bandwidth and consuming up to 20 percent less power than the LPDDR5 standard. Including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with the LPDDR5X RAM should make for a very efficient setup, so we are excited about what comes next year.
