If you have the official Facebook for iOS app installed on your iPhone or iPad, then we're sure you already know that the piece of software is not good to have onboard when it comes to battery life. Even with Background App Refresh turned off iniOS, the app keeps on working behind the curtains, taking a serious toll on how long our devices last on a single charge. Thankfully though, the social network giant is well aware of the issue and is working on a fix for the dreaded problem, which has been plaguing users for a long, long time.

Facebook Is Well Aware That Its iOS App Is Eating Away Battery

According to a Facebook spokesperson in a statement given to TechCrunch:

We have heard reports of some people experiencing battery issues with our iOS app. We’re looking into this and hope to have a fix in place soon.

Facebook is not commenting at all what is causing thisbattery drain issue, but many different experts have weighedin on the problem suggesting varioustheories on why this might be happening. One theory suggests that the app does not go into the sleep state even when you press the Home button on your device, keeping the app alive in the background, hence taking a toll on the battery life. Another theory suggests that the Facebook app is 'hijacking audio sessions on iOS' and the software keeps on playing audio in the background, but of course, in silent mode.

All of this aside, even we have noticed that the Facebook app is drastically eating away our battery life even with everything turned well off. Sadly enough, the only way to fix this issue straight away is by either signing out of the app itself, or by completely deleting all traces of it. Obviously, you don't want to to do that as you're stabbing the convenience the app provides right in the heart.

If you have an old iOS device at hand that is pale when it comes to providing good battery life, then there is one route which you can take: use the Facebook mobile Web service to check upon your social network activities. Apart from that, there's no workaround.
