Future Samsung Phones Could Use Bing As Default Search Engine As Google Finds Itself In Panic Mode
Future Samsung Phones Could Use Bing As Default Search Engine As Google Finds Itself In Panic Mode-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:02 AM

Future Samsung Galaxy phones could offer Bing as the default search engine instead of Google. Back in March 2023, Samsung reportedly told Google that it was looking into making Microsoft's Bing the default search engine. Of course, this news would not be taken lightly by Google, considering how we have been seeing it as a default search engine on Samsung phones for as long as we can remember. But what exactly is the reason behind such a shift? Well, AI is to blame.

Google is working on four new AI-powered tools as Samsung signals a move to Bing as a default search engine for Galaxy phones

The New York Times acquired internal Google communications, and based on that, Google is now in a panic mode not just because it is on the verge of losing a lot of money, but if Samsung walks away from Google because of a lack of AI in its search, what is to stop Apple from doing so. And remember, both companies are on contract with Google and pay a hefty fee to the company.

This situation has set Google in an overdrive mode as the company has started planning AI-powered features that will be integrated into Google Search. The fun part? The report tells us that the features could appear at Google I/O 2023. We are looking forward to this because competition is always a driving force. However, we are unsure how it will end since Google's next main event is less than a month away.

But that is not all. Google is working on a new project known as Magi. The company plans to introduce AI to all its services, such as search, images, and more. In addition to that, the company is also working on a new tool called GIFI,which will generate images in Google Image, and there is also TivoliTutor, which could help users learn a new language with the help of AI. Last but not least, we might also see a Chrome extension calledSearchalongwhich will allow users to ask chatbot questions while browsing the internet.

Honestly, all of this certainly sounds scary but exciting at the same time. For instance, if Apple and Samsung decide to walk away from Google and go to Microsoft, this could potentially mean a loss of $23 billion for Google, as that is how much the contracts total up to. On the other hand, this is an excellent time for Google to realize that OEMs are looking for more ways to integrate AI into their devices, and users want the same thing. Yes, Google Bard is already out there, but it certainly is not on par with ChatGPT. We can't say for sure what the future holds, but we will find out more at Google I/O 2023 and keep you posted.
