Samsung's Fan Edition phones are excellent for users who want to experience a flagship device and not spend money on one. The company has been offering these devices for some years, only to take a break after the Galaxy S22 release. But it seems like the company might be coming back to form with the Galaxy S23 FE, which could release later this year at a compelling price and somewhat questionable specs.
Samsung Galaxy S23 will go into production by the end of Q3 and will be available to buy by the end of this year
Now, the purpose of the previous generation Fan Edition phones was to provide a flagship experience with a more affordable price tag. This meant that the Galaxy S20 FE and the Galaxy S21 FE were identical to their elder siblings, aside from having some obvious cut corners. However, based on the report from a Korean outlet, the Galaxy S23 FE could be a step down.
The outlet reports that the phone will bring some solid specs in terms of the display being a 120Hz OLED panel. I guess that it will be an FHD+ variant instead of QHD. The outlet also claims that the Galaxy S23 FE will have a triple camera setup on the back, and disappointingly, the phone will feature a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 (we are not sure if it is the plus variant) instead of the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. It is safe to say that Samsung has decided to compromise on the processing power instead of something else.
The phone is going to cost $699 and will be available later this year as Samsung has picked the partners that will start producing the parts for the phone at the end of Q3, with the phone being available at the end of Q4, which makes sense for an end of the year refresher. The news corroborates another rumor we heard earlier this year that claimed that the Galaxy S23 FE would be using Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, as Samsung is looking to keep the cost down. So, there is a high chance that it might be the case.
At the time of writing, it is too early to confirm anything about the Galaxy S23 FE. The only thing we can do is wait for the phone to go official and see what it brings to the table in terms of value and specs.
