It looks like Samsung has its faith restored in Qualcomm because Galaxy S7, the company’s upcoming flagship handset is going to be running a Snapdragon 820 SoC, and from the looks of it, quite a large number of units are going to be running the chipset manufacturer’s flagship SoC.

Snapdragon 820 And Exynos 8890 Variants Of Galaxy S7Are Reported To Being Produced In A 1:1 Ratio

According to a source, Snapdragon 820 variants of the smartphone are going to be produced in a 50 percent ratio. The chipset is already going to be manufactured on a brand new process called 14nm FinFET LPP, which will no doubt be superior to the 14nm FinFET LPE process. Previously, there was a rumor suggesting that Snapdragon 820 was suffering from overheating issues, but an executive has stated that thanks to the smaller lithographic process, such incidents are not going to be repeated by the manufacturer.

Galaxy S7 is going to be powered by Qualcomm’s custom cores which are being referred to as Hydra cores, and they will result in 35 percent more performance in comparison to its predecessor. We will wait for detailed benchmarks to appear before we can properly come to a conclusion of course. What we know about Galaxy S7 so far is that the smartphone is most likely going to sport the exact same sensor that was present on Xperia Z5, meaning that a huge camera upgrade is coming our way in 2016.

One of Samsung’s biggest problems concerning its mobile products is the severe customization that they add to its TouchWiz interface. Not only does it reduce performance substantially because it utilizes far more system resources as compared to stock Android. Also, there have been reports concerning severe lack of security present in Samsung’s devices. We believe that the company should definitely switch away from its own interface, and cut out pre-loaded applications from the equation altogether.

Both Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 chipsets will reportedly include a Cat 12 LTE modem, which will allow for download speeds of up to 600Mbps where the network allows it. We also believe that Galaxy S7 will remain limited to a 1440p display since adding a 4K resolution to its Super AMOLED display will result in severe loss of battery life and performance, irrespective of how attractive everything inside the display will look.
