Only yesterday, the specifications of Galaxy S7 showed up through a leak that we covered, summarizing that the upcoming smartphone, or at least one model, is going to be sport a 5.1 inch AMOLED display and a 1440p display. Now, the latest benchmarking scores of the device have popped up on Geekbench, indicating the smartphone is going to be announced very soon.
Galaxy S7 Benches Show Up – Not That Impressive Particularly When The Device Is Expected To Sport An Exynos 8890 And/Or Snapdragon 820
According to a source, Galaxy S7 is going to be available to purchase in both the Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890 SoC. Both chipsets are manufactured on the 14nm FinFET LPP technology, making them much more efficient than Exynos 7420, which was manufactured on the 14nm LPE architecture. Coming to the benchmarking scores, Geekbench was able to keep a record of Galaxy S7’s scores, and they have been listed below.
Single-core: 1873Multi-core: 5946
When we detailed our exclusive benchmarking results of Apple’s iPhone, the iOS running powerhouse is able to zip past Galaxy S7 in the single-core test, while being unable to surpass it in the multi-core test. The point we are trying to make is that these results could just be for testing purposes only and that the actual smartphone could project a much higher score. After all, a device that is rocking a 14nm FinFET LPP SoC is definitely not something to be taken lightly. Another thing that we noticed is that this particular version of Galaxy S7 is running eight processing cores running at a speed of 1.59GHz.
When Samsung announced its Exynos 8890, and afterwards proudly showcased its very detailed infograph of the SoC, four cores will be running of Cortex-A53, while the remaining will be running Samsung’s own developed ones. This shows that we will have to wait for more results in order to confirm the authenticity of these scores, but seeing as how Galaxy S7 is expected to be announced during MWC 2016, it will not be long till we can witness the mobile computing capabilities of the handset.
Perhaps the biggest feature we want to see in the upcoming smartphone is that it features an expandable storage slot, along with a bigger battery capacity. While the 14nm FinFET LPP chipsets will play a huge role in keeping both temperatures low and maintaining battery life, it is high time that Samsung also made a sizable investment towards increasing the battery life of its handsets.
