According to a new report from South Korea, Samsung Galaxy S9 pre-orders are lower than expected. The company started taking pre-orders for the Galaxy S9 series just yesterday on its home ground in South Korea, but the numbers have failed to meet expectations.

Galaxy S9 Pre-Order Numbers Are Not Better Than the Galaxy S8 but This Report Was Only Covered After a Measly Time Span of 6 Hours

According to people close to this information, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ orders are lower than Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ orders in the first six hours. However, since Samsung hasn’t released any official information, it’s hard to comment on the reliability of this report.

There was also a local carrier employeewho saidthat the number of pre-orders is below those of Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+. The same report says that LG V30sThinQ met a similar fate in South Korea. The phone is an upgraded version of LG V30 with new artificial intelligence features.

Since the report only cites the first few hours after the pre-orders were opened, chances are that sales figures could improveover time. Furthermore, the Galaxy S9 was introduced only a few days before so Samsung will probably rev up its marketing efforts to attract more customers.

Samsung does expect Galaxy S9 to outperform Galaxy S8in terms of sales. The CEO of the company’s mobile division recently said that the response to Galaxy S9 is better than what the company has expected, despite the fact that Galaxy S9 doesn’t bring a lot of exciting new features to the table.

These flagships were also expected to come with an in-display fingerprint sensor but unfortunately did not. Apparently, the company didn’t want to incorporate any feature that was not completely ready for deployment. Instead of packing in new features, Samsung has improved the previous ones that are mostlyused and enjoyed by customers.

Only time will tell whether that is sufficient to lure a substantial number of customers.
