The rumors surrounding the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 have started ramping up ever since we heard that Samsung could launch the phones earlier this year. In the past, we have heard rumors that the Flip 5 is going to get an upgrade in terms of the external screen as the company has finally decided to opt for a more extensive cover display. Today, we have some more information on what the cover display could end up looking like.
The Galaxy Z Flip 5 could easily feature one of the most functional cover displays found on a flip phone
According to a tweet from Ice Universe, the cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will offer a "folder-shaped" external display. Now, I don't really know what this folder shape means, but I have a feeling that the screen is going to be entirely square, giving you a larger area of operation. If this is true, it just confirms the previous rumors about the new Flip phone offering a larger screen.

The Galaxy Z Flip phones in the past have offered considerably smaller screens that do the job but are not offering anything out of the usual. Meanwhile, the competition is coming with larger, more functional external displays. However, based on the rumors we have heard about the Galaxy Z Flip 5, it seems like Samsung has finally learned from the past and will be offering a larger cover display.
We did get an early look at the mock-up of how the cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 could end up looking. The display will envelop the entire top half of the phone, only to cut off where the camera modules are going to be. Just like previous devices, the upcoming flipper from Samsung will also offer just two camera modules, which are most likely borrowed from the Galaxy S23.
Whatever the case, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 looks to be a promising device and a major upgrade compared to older devices. The new display, combined with all the other advancements that Samsung has made to its durability, makes this device one of the most compelling foldable devices under $1,000. Based on our information, the Galaxy Unpacked will take place sometime in July instead of the usual August/September timeline. We will keep you posted as more details emerge about Samsung's upcoming foldable phones.
