Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 Appear to Be Selling Really Well in Domestic Market as Indicated By Pre-Order Numbers-February 2024
Feb 11, 2026 10:34 PM

The Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 went official last month. Instead of relating these phones in August, Samsung decided to do the reveal earlier, and although the devices are still not officially available in stores, the pre-order numbers suggest that the phones have managed to be a hit in the domestic market. Do note that the numbers I am talking about are strictly for the domestic market and are not reflective of the sales in other regions.

Galaxy Z Flip 5 is clearly a lot more popular than the Galaxy Z Fold 5, as it accounts for nearly 714,000 units out of 1.02 million units sold

Based on a report, Samsung has managed to sell 1.02 million combined units of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5. Beating the sales of the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4's combined sale of 970,000 units last year. Compared to the new foldable phones, the Galaxy S23 series managed to sell 1.38 million units earlier this year, so it is safe to say that Samsung's latest foldable venture is pretty close, to be honest, which is a good sign and shows that the foldable phones are finally growing in the popularity.

Samsung officials are happy with the pre-order sale of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 as well, as they have talked about how despite economic hardships, the phones have managed to do really well in the market.

Last but not least, it is important to know that the clamshell foldable managed to sell significantly higher, racking approximately 70 percent of preorders compared to the Fold 5, which managed approximately 30 percent. This should not come as a surprise since the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is not only cheaper but also comes with identical specs, and it is the phone that has received the most significant design change in the form of its Flex Window, which allows you to use your device without really unfolding it; the cover display allows you to use whatever app you want and that too, without any issues that might otherwise plague the user experience.

For those waiting for the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5, both phones will be hitting the shelves on 11th August. So, you have time to decide which one you want to pick up. I am not upgrading this year, but my vote goes for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 as it is not only a better value for money, but it also brings the best overall upgrade, whereas the more expensive foldable feels a lot like a rehash of the Z Fold 4 from last year.
