If everything goes accordingly, the Galaxy Z Fold 5 will go official sometime between August and September, later this year. As always, Samsung will bring many new changes and some refinements over the past generation of foldable. Over the past few weeks, we have heard some convincing and solid rumors about the upcoming foldable phone. So far, all things indicate a more refined Galaxy Z Fold 4, and honestly, that isn't bad.
With that said, we are going to look at everything we know so far about Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Galaxy Z Fold 5 could be a refinement rather than a direct upgrade from the previous generation
One of the biggest gripes most people have with foldable phones is the visible crease. Sure, companies have tried their best to eliminate the crease by upgrading the hinge design. So far, we have not seen a definitive solution, however, with the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5 and its"waterdrop hinge," which is said to reduce crease significantly. Additionally, we have also heard that the crease will allow the phone to fold completely flat and offer protection against dust. The new hinge mechanism will also allow the phone to be thinner than its predecessor. Of course, we will have to wait for the official release or actual renders to tell the difference.
Moving further, one thing that is for sure is that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is going to use the samecamera systemas the Galaxy S23 or the Galaxy S23+ instead of using the behemoth of a camera found in the ultra variant. Why is that the case? Samsung has a history of using the same camera system in their foldable phones as their base Galaxy S variant. Case in point, the Galaxy S22 and S22+ share the same primary camera with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 instead of an upgraded 108-megapixel camera found on the Ultra variant.
The last thing we know about the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is a rumor suggesting that the upcoming foldable will not have an in-built S Pen slot. Sure, it will support the S Pen and the S Pen Pro like the older generation of foldable, but a dedicated slot will not be possible due to design limitations caused by the new hinge structure. However, considering how the phone is still a couple of months away from the official launch, this could change. Still, we will keep you posted.
These are all the rumors we know about the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 5. We will keep you posted as we learn more about Samsung's next revolutionary foldable. Let us know what you are looking forward to the most in the comments below.
