Gigabyte X79-UD3 Motherboard Pictured at Computex 2011-August 2024

Gigabyte displayed its upcoming X79-UD3 motherboard which would feature Intel's X79 socket to support the nextgenerationSandy Bridge-E Processors. The motherboard includes the LGA 2011 socket, One thing to be noticed is that the Socket is quite larger than other sockets and holds a total of 2011 pins.

The motherboard features Four DDR3 memory slots featuring Quad channel memory support and are positioned in a rather unique way with two slots each included at the sides of the LGA 2011 socket. The ATX sized board is made up of a 6 Phase power design using Ultra Durable III technology featuring a Copper cooled design, It's still in development phase as the heatsinks are not included on the power circuitry. The UD3 will also be a mainstream level board while the higher end would consist of UD5 and UD7. The northbridge uncore component with a 40-lane PCI-Express 3.0 controller while each memory slot has its own 64-bit wide memory channel.

The motherboard has a total of 5 PCI-e x16 slots along with one PCI Conventional slot, Multi SLI and Crossfire GPU support are added. High trasnfer Sata 3.0 and USB 3.0 are also included for rapid storage options. I/O panel connectivity includes with 8+2 channel HD audio, a number of USB 3.0 ports, USB 2.0, and a single gigabit Ethernet.
