It's been a while since Android, as an OS, has gone through an identity change, but that is finally changing as the company has finally decided to update the new logo and ad a new wordmark, too. Apparently, this change has been happening for some time, but now you can see it in many different places.

So, what has changed? Well, the new Android logo is three-dimensional, which looks a bit more modern compared to the flat one we are used to. In addition to that, the wordmark now starts with the capital letter "A," and the 'n' and 'r' are rounded. As for the robot head, Google has decided to go for a 3D logo that stands out a bit more.
Folks over at 9to5Google have talked about how the change was first spotted back at CES 2023, but Google still has not made an official announcement. However, the publication does mention how the new wordmark was added in an advertisement for Android discussing the first-party apps on the Galaxy S23 Ultra. The new logo was also spotted at I/O 2023.

If you go over to the official Android website, you will see most of the old assets are still being used, which means that Google has not started widely pushing this new change. However, when this actually comes forward, you should be expecting this change everywhere there is a mention of the wordmark or a display of the logo. Google would want to keep things consistent, and I mean, you cannot really blame the company, either.
As mentioned before, we still haven't heard an official statement from Google, so this change is likely going to take some time. It would be safe to assume that Google would make this change and announcement once Android 14 starts rolling out as a stable update. Which should happen sometime later this year, perhaps in October, along with the launch of the Pixel 8 series. Whatever the case may be, it is nice to see the company bringing a new refresh, and I am really hoping to see a new, refreshed identity for the brand that we have all grown to love.
