Today at Mobile World Congress, Google lifted the curtains off some new Android features that will be coming to all Android devices. Some features are rolling out today, while others will be rolled out in the future. The best part? The new features are not version or device-specific--as long as you are running a device with Android 7 and above, meaning that all users worldwide will get access to these features.
Latest Android and Wear OS 3 features aim to make your user experience better and, in some cases, more productive
As mentioned, some features are rolling out as we speak, and others will roll out soon. Sadly, Google has not given us a release date as to when those features are coming, but it has given us insight into what those features are all about. Google also shared a brief video showing all the new Android and Wear OS features. You can check it out below:
So what new features are currently rolling out to Android phones? Well, let's start with page zoom on Chrome, users will now be able to zoom into the text, image, video, and control portion on any page that they are using on Google Chrome on Android. This means that the layout will remain the same, making it a much better experience for those who just want to read something without messing up the layout of the page. The feature is currently on the beta channel but should be available to the stable channel soon.
Android users will be pleased to know that Google has decided to expand noise cancellation in Google Meet to more users worldwide, making it much easier for you to attend your meeting or casual conversations without background noise being an issue. Users can now take notes on their PDF files using a stylus or their fingerswithin Google Drive. You can also highlight the text, making it a better experience for people who collaborate using PDF files. Lastly, Emoji Kitchen will let you build manymore crazy combinations than before.
All of these features are now available on all Android devices, but Google has also introduced a bunch of new features. They are not rolling out at the moment, and there is no release date either, but let's talk about those, too.
Google is bringing Fast Pair on all Chromebooks. You can soon connect your earbuds or any other device that supports Fast Pair with just one tap. However, a neat addition is that if you have earbuds already connected to your Android phone, they'll connect to your Chromebook automatically. Another new Android feature I like is that Google Keep is getting a new single-note widget, allowing you to add your to-do list on your home screen instead of having a list of all notes. Speaking of Google Keep. You can access your notes on your Wear OS 3 smartwatches.
On Android phones, tap to paywill show an animation every time the transaction is successful. We are not sure why this feature was added, but if it is what Google wants, we roll with it. Last but not least, Wear OS 3 smartwatches will now get new accessibility features, such as the feature to use mono audio, have color correction, or greyscale modes for easier useability.
As mentioned before, these features will run on all devices running Android 7 and above, so you do not have to worry about anything.
