The popular Google’s Nexus7 is reportedly getting its second generation Nexus successor in May as a cooperative effort with Google’s manufacturing partner Asustek Computer. Digitimes cited several unnamed sources today from within Google’s supply chain claiming that the 2nd generation Google Nexus 7 will be sporting a full 1080p high-def display with a tweaked design.

Recently released engineering samples of Nexus 7 indicate the prices of the new 7-inch device same as the first generation model $199 - $249, as the sources pointed out. Thinner display boarder, full HD resolution are among a few upgraded features from the previous Nexus 7.

The tablet will supposedly run an upgradedJelly Bean based Android operating system “The machine will also feature Google's upgraded Jelly Bean-based Android operating system to enhance integration between the software and the hardware”, the sources noted.

“Total Google Nexus 7 shipments will surpass six million units by the end of January with the US$249 model being the best selling model”, the sources noted. Combined first and second generation Nexus 7 shipments are expected to reach a total 10 million unit sales this year.
