Here's how you can downgrade iOS 14.2 / iPadOS 14.2 to iOS 14.1 / iPadOS 14.1 running on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch.

Downgrade to iOS 14.1 / iPadOS 14.1 from iOS 14.2 / iPadOS 14.2 is Possible as Apple is Signing the Older Firmware

Apple released iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2 for users a while back with some nifty little changes, including bug fixes and performance related improvements. If you believe you should stay on iOS 14.1 / iPadOS 14.1 for some reason, then you have a small chance in downgrading as Apple is still signing the older firmware.

First of all, please make sure you have created necessary backups of your files and settings, either using iTunes, iCloud or Finder. It's entirely up to you which method you use for backing up as long as it keeps everything safe and secure.

Download the iOS 14.1 / iPadOS 14.1 IPSW file for your device and save it to your desktop:

Once the IPSW is done downloading, follow our clean installation tutorial below using the IPSW file you downloaded from above. Just replace the IPSW in step 6 with iOS 14.1, that's it.

How to Clean Install iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 Final Version

If you are all about bug fixes, features and performance enhancements, then it's a good idea to stick with iOS 14.2 and iPadOS 14.2. But if you are experiencing some sort of problems with the update, then downgrading might fix things up. It's also a good idea to give the OS a clean install on iOS 14.2 or iPadOS 14.2, it works wonders for us every single time without fail.

Whatever you end up doing, it's your call. If downgrading to iOS 14.1 / iPadOS 14.1 is your final call, then it's best you do it right now as long as Apple's signing the older firmware. Once the signing window closes, you will be forced to stick around with iOS 14.2 / iPadOS 14.2.
