Last time, we reported that Huawei was working on its own notebook in order to take on Xiaomi’s upcoming laptop, and according to the leaked images, the manufacturer was going to name it as the Huawei MateBook. This sounds awfully familiar to Apple’s MacBook (particularly when the ‘B’ has been capitalized). However, there are going to be some differences between the manufacturer’s upcoming slate, as you will see shortly.

Huawei MateBook Could Feature A Dual-Boot OS Along With A Stylus

According to the latest report, Huawei MateBook is going to be running a dual-OS, indicating that the slate will be capable of running both Android (presumably Android Lollipop and later versions) and Windows 10. While this will be a useful feature, the actual information that has gotten into our heads is the type of hardware that will be running inside it; Huawei has been really keen on using its own developed hardware as far as mobile chipsets is concerned. The latest SoC that the company has incorporated inside its flagship smartphone, Mate 8 was Kirin 950, and we are assuming that it is what will most likely be powering on the company’s MateBook, or maybe something else entirely.

If not, then it is possible that the company will be using one of Intel’s mobility processors, perhaps a previous generation one in order to keep the costs low and target a larger audience, which is the same approach that Xiaomi has taken. One of the most notable changes in the upcoming slate is that it has been reported to sport a stylus, which gives us the impression that the company might very well be taking on Apple’s iPad Pro and Microsoft’s Surface Pro. This latest insight means that the tablet could have a large screen size, and a keyboard accessory to go along with it for increased productivity.

With such a product, Huawei is definitely going to be charging top dollar, and we suspect that while it may be cheaper than an iPad Pro or Surface Pro 4, it will still carry a hefty price tag. There was also a report suggesting that Huawei was also working on its own custom developed GPU, but we doubt that it will find its way in the tablet. For now, this is all the information that we have to go on and once we come across more details, we will certainly be updating you on this front.
