Huawei Working On An Apple Vision Pro Competitor, Rumor Claims It Will Sport A ‘Flagship Processor’ And Active Fan To Dissipate Heat-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 8:57 AM

Making a comeback in the Chinese smartphone will definitely not be enough for Huawei because a new rumor alleges that the company intends to enter the mixed-reality headset segment with the launch of an Apple Vision Pro competitor. Though the exact specifications have not been provided, the rumor claims that the device will be equipped with a flagship processor, indicating that the Kirin 9000S might not have a place in this AR headset. More information provides various design choices for the forthcoming product, so let us discuss this in more detail.

Huawei’s former sub-brand Honor is also rumored to be working on an Apple Vision Pro competitor

In addition to Samsung, Huawei is also jumping into the same category, attempting to one-up Apple’s $3,500 headset with one of its own that may feature a less ludicrous price tag to entice consumer demand. As far as Huawei’s unnamed AR headset goes, Mochamad Farido has commented on X, revealing the former Chinese giant’s plans for the future that do not involve smartphones.

He does not reveal the name of this ’flagship processor,’ but given that the Apple Vision Pro is fueled by a Mac-grade M2 and an R1 co-processor, Huawei will have to develop something similar. Fortunately, the company is aiming for a lightweight build, with the batteries said to be attached to the headset externally and the heat management tackled by a dedicated fan, which is an addition missing from the Apple Vision Pro.

Huawei will have a VR glasses product next year, equipped with a flagship processor. Considering power consumption, heat dissipation specifications (internal fan-driven heat dissipation module), and supporting external batteries.

Aside from this, he mentions in another post that Huawei’s former sub-brand Honor is also pursuing an AR headset launch, though the details concerning its design and other hardware are currently unknown. The tipster has not mentioned how many units of Huawei’s first AR headset will be produced. In Samsung’s case, the Korean giant is reportedly mass producing only 30,000 units, so we could see Huawei releasing around the same number unless demand for AR headsets miraculously increases.

We will eventually stumble across more information regarding the official name and specifications, and with the latest rumor, we are glad that the Apple Vision Pro is finally getting some competition; let us hope that a product offers the same experience.
