Intel Launching Core i7 3820 Sandy Bridge E CPU Next Month-August 2024
Aug 11, 2025 3:58 PM

Intel tends not to stay fixed on their launch dates but on this one it looks pretty solid. Intel plans to release their first ever quad core Sandy Bridge-E CPU, the Core i7-3820 on the February 13th.

This new affordable quad core on the 2011 socket comes with a stock clock speed of 3.6 GHz that can turbo boost up to 3.9 GHz, support for quad-channel memory and a 10 MB cache. Suggested retail price has been set at $285 whereas for the premium six core model, the i7-3960X has been priced at $999 that is clocked at 3.3 GHz.

This would seem affordable for the masses that want to jump on the SB-E bandwagon and get to used the X79 chipset. Currently the lowest model on the Sandy Bridge-E segment line on sale is the Core i7-3930 that retails for $583 but yet is clocked at 3.2 GHz and has it’s cache down to 12MB.
