Apple's WWDC 2023 event is a little over a month away, and we are anxiously waiting for Apple's next big updates. The company is expected to announce its forthcoming iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 updates, which are expected to bring a boatload of forward-facing additions. iOS 17 will be a major update as Apple plans to redesign the Control Center and update a plethora of apps. iPadOS 17 is now rumored to enhance its Stage Manager feature with webcam support for external displays. Scroll down to read more details on the subject.

Stage Manager to receive numerous updates for external displays, including support for webcams, audio output source, more

Stage Manager was announced last year that offers a brand-new multitasking interface on iPad. However, not all iPad models are eligible for the feature as the company reserved it for iPad models with an M-series chip. Now, the company is looking to enhance Stage Manager with additional features that will make it the perfect replacement for a computer. According to @analyst941 on Twitter, Apple will announce iPadOS 17 will feature webcam support for external displays through Stage Manager.

if you are not familiar, Stage Manager offers a unique and productive way of arranging the apps on the screen that aids in better multitasking. The apps are stacked neatly on the left while the main app is centered. The same feature was also released on macOS for a uniform user experience. Now, Stage Manager will incorporate additional features to further narrow the gap between iPadOS and macOS. With webcam support for external displays, iPadOS 17 will be able to fully take advantage of the Stage Manager feature. iPadOS 17 to bring Webcam Support for Stage Manager

The leaker notes that the feature will also include an option to make the iPad display to sleep while the external display stays on. This will not only save battery life but also contribute to a view with fewer distractions. Currently, the iPad mimics everything that is happening on the external display. Henceforth, it makes sense for the company to turn the iPad's display off while it is connected to an external display. You can check out all the iPad models that will feature support for Apple's forthcoming iPadOS 17 update.

Additional features rumored with iPadOS 17 are options for resizing the dock for the external display, the ability to control audio output source settings, and much more. You can choose if you wish to switch to the audio of the external display or speakers. Be sure to take the news with a grain of salt since the final word rests with Apple.
