If there was ever a time you wished Apple would release a new color for its latest iPhones, this was it. The company has officially unveiled a yellow finish for both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. Unfortunately, the same courtesy was not extended to the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, as they continue to be available in four flavors.

Nothing else had changed about the newest iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and both start from $799 and $899 in the U.S., respectively

With the latest announcement, Apple has added a total of six colors to the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, but that is about all that you are getting for your money. Apart from a paint change, there is absolutely nothing that sets these models apart from the ones that launched last year. They both arrive in the same 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays that, unfortunately, do not support ProMotion technology like the more expensive versions.

The yellow versions of the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus also feature the same A15 Bionic SoC with a 5-core GPU as the rest of the lineup, so consumers who want to personalize their look with the addition of a yellow version will most likely pick this up. Overall, sales of the non-Pro models have been slow, so there is a possibility that Apple went through with this launch to pick up some sales steam before it prepares the announcement of the iPhone 15 family later this year.

The specifications of the newer models remain the same

Thankfully, you get the same capable dual-rear cameras at the back and a smaller notch in the front with faster Face ID. Also, for the first time, Apple added a new Emergency SOS via satellite feature, which rolled out in the U.S., then Canada, and shortly after, several European countries. Whether or not you appreciate the color change, both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus can be life-saving devices in certain situations.

As for pricing, the iPhone 14 starts from $799, while the iPhone 14 Plus will make your wallet lighter by $899 in the U.S. Available storage variants are 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB. Coming to availability, customers residing in the U.K., Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, South Korea, and 60 others will be able to pre-order one or both in the new color from 5 AM onwards PST from March 10.
