iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max To Get Improved Video Recording Features, With A Focus On Importing Data To Other Computers-February 2024

Apple’s continuous ad campaigns that highlight the video recording prowess of iPhones are just another way of the company’s efforts to show how far it has come with its devices. For the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, a tipster mentions that additional focus will be placed on these two upcoming flagships’ footage capturing capabilities, and creative professionals will find it easy to offload videos from these two handsets.

The inclusion of the Thunderbolt 3 port exclusively for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max will make it possible for users to effortlessly transfer high capacity videos

Shortly after reporting that the ‘Pro’ models will get unlocked features in iOS 17thanks to being the only iPhones from Apple to feature a Thunderbolt 3 USB-C port, @analyst941 says on Twitter that the company is ‘heavily invested’ in video recording. While capturing high-resolution, and high-framerate video was always a strength of iPhones, Apple is raising the bar by bringing ‘Recording Output’ features.

Though the tipster did not elaborate on what that means, he does state that it will be possible to import data to workstations, or in other words, your primary computer. Previously, importing video from the iPhone was difficult, as you had to fire up iTunes to start the transfer or use a cloud storage service like iCloud to sync that data. Now, it appears that iOS 17 will have an exclusive feature, letting users take advantage of the Thunderbolt 3 port to transfer heaps and heaps of data.

I haven’t heard anything in regards to standard 15’s so looks like it’s gonna be USB 2.0 standard.

Again, pros are Thunderbolt 3.

Apple is heavily invested into video recording this year, rather than stills.

Focus on importing to workstations

Etc.

The iPad Pro can recognize external storage when peripherals are plugged into its Thunderbolt port, so the same functionality may be replicated for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Previously, we reported that ‘Pro’ features, such as being able to connect an external monitor for a 4K video output, will be possible with these devices, an addition that content creators would love to see, though the tipster did state that this feature would target a niche audience.

We do not know if Apple will introduce 8K video recording support to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, as the 4K 60FPS option has existed since 2017. Perhaps 8K resolution is a tad bit overkill to add to the features set, while at the same time, Apple would continue to refine the 4K experience. In any case, we will see how you can start using these changes in the upcoming major software update.
