On their own, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 series, particularly the ‘Pro’ versions, is expected to see a rise in sales and popularity, due to their long list of upgrades, including a shift to USB-C, negating the need to use a different cable. However, an investment firm believes that another reason why the new lineup will do well is that a quarter of Apple’s current installed iPhone base has yet to upgrade in four or more years.
Apple could likely be banking on the exclusive upgrades arriving to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max to be responsible for the success, but customers also yearning to switch
Wedbush analysts have provided their input concerning the potential success of the iPhone 15 family. Given that an aged iPhone shows obvious signs of performance and battery endurance issues, especially when it is kept for four years or more, customers must be chomping at the bit to upgrade. According to the report from AppleInsider, the following details have been provided regarding the launch and imminent success of the upcoming series.
“We estimate roughly 25% of the current iPhone installed base has not upgraded their iPhone in 4 years+. With the highly anticipated anniversary edition iPhone 15 set to be launched in the September timeframe, the baton handoff from iPhone 14 to iPhone 15 looks to be a steadier transition than some other peak to valley iPhone cycles of the past.”

Apple could also be paying some extra focus on the cheaper iPhone 15 models to prop sales. This will include incorporating features like the Dynamic Island, a possible price cut compared to the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, though the lack of ProMotion and other display-centric additions might irritate customers. Apple continuing to charge $799 for a device that ships with a 60Hz in 2023 might be considered criminal to some.
Steady production was an area that forced Apple to lose out on a significant number of sales in the final quarter last year, so the company likely has multiple contingencies in place to prevent another repeat of history. Our own take is that the iPhone 15 series will do much better this year in the fourth quarter compared to the iPhone 14 in 2022, and we will keep you updated on the latest.
