iPhone 16 And iPhone 16 Pro Models To Use An Upgraded Stacked Camera Sensor Design For Enhanced Low-Light Performance-February 2024

Apple will launch the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models next month, potentially on September 13, alongside the new Apple Watch Series 9. However, it is never too early to begin speculations on what the company might have to offer next year. We have already shared numerous details on the iPhone 16 Pro and how it could be an even bigger upgrade than the forthcoming iPhone 15 Pro models. According to a prominent analyst, Apple is looking to further enhance the camera system on the iPhone 16 Pro models using a stacked sensor design.

Analyst suggests iPhone 16 Pro models will receive a major camera upgrade, slated to use a stacked camera design on all four models

Take note that the iPhone 15 models will come with a stacked camera sensor as well, but the 'Pro' models will miss out on the hardware upgrade. Next year, all four models are expected to feature the technology for enhanced image and video-taking capabilities. The news was shared by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo in a Medium blog, suggesting that due to production yield dilemmas, the forthcoming standard iPhone 15 models will miss out on the upgrade.

Take note that the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will feature their fair share of camera upgrades this year. Both devices are expected to launch with a 48MP camera with a stacked CMOS sensor for low-light photography. The sensor will allow more light to enter through the lens, which will play a crucial role in adding more details to photos and would be improved for low-light scenarios.

The analyst also mentions that Sony will play a major role in the provision of CMOS image sensors or CIS for this year's iPhone 15 models and next year. Apple has secured orders in advance to prevent shortages ahead of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro launch. This is not the first time that we are hearing details on the iPhone 16 Pro camera upgrade. It was previously reported that the iPhone 16 Pro Max will house an enhanced 48MP sensor, improved telephoto, and ultra-wide lens.

While the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro launch is more than a year away, the iPhone 15 Pro models are expected to house major changes as well, which will stretch from the design of the device to the internals. For the first time, Apple will introduce the iPhone models to a titanium build, offering a lighter but stronger design. Furthermore, the 'Pro' models are also expected to feature the A17 Bionic chip fabricated on TSMC's 3nm process for enhanced CPU and GPU performance along with improved efficiency for maximum battery life.
