Apple launched the latest iPhone 14 Pro models with major design changes as far as the display is concerned. The company brought its highly rumored Always-On display to the mix of features and introduced Dynamic Island coupled with app extensions for a brand-new visual experience. In the coming years, Dynamic Island will see several variations in terms of size and what it can do. Ultimately, Dynamic Island will give room to in-display technology. We are now hearing that Apple will introduce in-display Face ID with the launch of the iPhone 17 Pro in 2025.

iPhone 17 Pro will be the first model to rock in-display Face ID in 2025

The news was shared by prominent display analyst Ross Young on Twitter, highlighting that Apple will introduce in-display Face ID with the launch of the iPhone 17 Pro. The standard iPhone models will potentially gain in-display technology a year after the debut with iPhone 17 Pro. What this means is that Apple's entire iPhone lineup will rock in-display Face ID by 2026.

This is not the first time that we are hearing details on Apple's in-display sensors. It was reported last year that the company is working on an under-display Face ID authentication system for the 'Pro' iPhone models. Initially, Young quoted the 2026 time frame for the technology. However, he reported last month that due to sensor issues, the company might delay the launch by another year.

Take note that the front-facing camera would still be available in the form of a single circular cutout. Since most Android phones do not possess the technology required for Face ID, we suspect it will be the closest they will get to the iPhone in terms of looks. However, it would not be long before the iPhone completely eradicates all distractions from the front. This means that the 2027 iPhone models will feature in-display Face ID as well as the front camera, making it the first all-screen iPhone that users have been dreaming of for a while.

Young also speculates that Apple will finally bring ProMotion technology to the standard models with the launch of the iPhone 17. Up until now, only the 'Pro' models have featured a higher refresh rate. Do take the news with a pinch of salt since the final word rests with Apple. As for this year, we expect Apple to launch the iPhone 15 Pro models with solid-state buttons and an Action button similar to the Apple Watch Ultra.
