iPhone 2018 Trial Production to Start Much Earlier – Here’s Why Apple Could Be Moving Swiftly-February 2024
Feb 12, 2026 3:08 PM

Apple will be looking to clear out all variables that may lead to the production hampering of its 2018 iPhone lineup. In order to make sure that the newest models are available to purchase as soon as possible, a new report has come up detailing that the tech giant is going to start trial production soon.

Apple’s iPhone 2018 Lineup Trial Production Could Start as Early as Q2 2018

According to DigiTimes, Apple is planning to start the trial production of the upcoming iPhone models no later than the second quarter of 2018 to avoid the manufacturing delays associated with the iPhone X, which were caused by the low yield rates on the production of 3D sensor modules.

The report is based on supply chain sources and states that Apple is speeding up the trial production to continue with the delivery schedules of the upcoming iPhone models so that there would be available supply for pre-orders.

Apple’s previous flagships, the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X didn’t sell as well as expected, and so Apple is intending to commence the production process of its upcoming smartphones earlier to revive the sales of its smartphones. Even the company’s supply chain partners are fairly optimistic about this year’s performance.

The iPhone X launch was surrounded by news about production issues. Ming-Chi Kuo, KGI Securities analyst said that the TrueDepth camera system was the main reason behind the problems because of its complicated facial recognition technologies. He said that the yield problems had started to stabilize by October, but problems cropped up again when pre-orders started on October 27. The delivery time was 5-6 weeks and it improved in the coming weeks. Eventually, it got better in December when the phone was available to purchase.

Apple is expected to launch three models this year. This will includea successor to iPhone X, the iPhone X Plus, which is said to feature a massive 6.5-inch display and a moreaffordable 6.1-inch modelthat will be touting an LCD display. If this report by DigiTimes is indeed true, it will be much easier to get your favorite iPhone model this year.
